This year has already seen two very well-received Marvel Cinematic Universe flicks released. Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming both received high praise from both critics and audiences, as evidenced by glowing reviews and box office numbers. But there’s still one more movie, and fans of the MCU regard Thor: Ragnarok as the most anticipated film of the lot. It not only adapts the Planet Hulk storyline, it’s also intended to set up Infinity War.
Marvel is certain to have a hit on its hands for the third time in 2017, and they announced that the review embargo would be lifted two weeks before the film's release. And now we have the critics’ first reactions!
Regarded as the best of the Thor solo movies – which really doesn't say much, given critical and popular reaction to the other installments – Ragnarok apparently ranks among the most fun MCU flicks. And it appears that Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie steals the show.
Hulk is once again the scene-stealer, and a lot of it is that he can finally talk. Great to see him back on the big screen. #ThorRagnarok

Thor: Ragnarok has a few surprises I didn't know about. One of them is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, and possibly the funniest scene in any @Marvel movie. pic.twitter.com/NRNFeftHyQ

Thor: Ragnarok music/soundtrack is fantastic. And some of the visuals are insane. Seeing again as soon as I can. Another @marvel winner. pic.twitter.com/GgCUEiDcmC

As for rest of the movie, it may be divisive. I thought a lot was hilarious (if not too long), but felt like I was only one laughing at times.

#ThorRagnarok is the best Thor movie, BUT still think it's really good, not awesome. Hemsworth, Hulk, and Tessa all great, though. And Goldblum! pic.twitter.com/rY6ItFzdjN

Jokes and characters are front and center to the action and drama. This will be the thing people will either love, or dislike, about the film.

The technical work on this movie is spectacular too. Visuals are stunning, and Mark Mothersbaugh’s score might be Marvel’s best.

After seeing #ThorRagnarok, I can say that @chrishemsworth's Thor will become many people's No.1 favorite Avenger. The guy shines in this.
