Tessa Thompson, the actress who brought herself in the spotlight in recent years with her performances in Dear White People, Selma and Creed, has sealed a deal to appear in Thor: Ragnarok. The Wrap and multiple other outlets have confirmed her casting in the November 3, 2017 release.
Name and details of Tessa's character in the movie haven't come out yet, but she is reported to portray the "new love-interest" of the Norse God of Thunder.
And Thor: Ragnarok isn't the only movie where she will play the particular character as the 32-year-old actress has signed "a multi-picture deal" with Marvel Studios.
Tessa Thompson kicked off her career back in 2002 as a professional stage actress. In 2005, she had her first small-screen appearance in the CBS series Cold Case. The very next year, she made her big-screen debut with the remake of 1979 horror flick When a Stranger Calls.
Natalie Portman won't return for Thor: Ragnarok!
You did see this coming just when you read that Tessa Thompson will be portraying the new love-interest of Thor, didn't you? The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Natalie Portman will not return for Thor: Ragnarok! The actress who played the Odinson's love-interest Jane Foster in the first two installments of his standalone series has for some unknown reason has been eliminated from the upcoming Taika Waititi flick.
Well, many of you would agree that Natalie Portman as Jane Foster was wasted by Marvel. Not only is the actress extremely talented, her character, too, has a rich comic book background. But they depicted her almost like a damsel in distress. Natalie doesn't deserve that, nor does Jane Foster!
But we hope that Tessa Thompson's character will have a more significant role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe than her future Annihilation co-star.
Apart from Chris Hemsworth and the newly added Tessa, Thor: Ragnarok will feature Tom Hiddleston, Mark Ruffalo, Jaime Alexander and Cate Blanchett. The movie's filming is expected to kick off this June.
