Two weeks before Spider-Man: Homecoming hits the theaters, it appears that Marvel and Sony have spilled the beans about several new characters. And the most interesting addition by far is Mac Gargan, aka Scorpion. In Homecoming, Michael Mando, Vaas Montenegro himself, will play the part.
We also learned that the secret character played by Donald Glover (Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Han Solo movie) may indeed be Miles Morales' uncle, Aaron Davis. In the comics, Davis, aka Prowler (another villain), has a role in Morales’ transformation. It’s long been rumored that Donald Glover would play this character.
Garcelle Beauvais (Flight) as Doris Toomes, who is most likely the wife/ex-wife of main villain Adrian Toomes, was another interesting reveal. If she’s actually Toomes’ wife, this opens up the possibility that Zendaya's Michelle is indeed Vulture’s daughter.
Gwyneth Paltrow will return as Pepper Potts following Iron Man 3 (we wonder what happened to her powers), and Jennifer Connelly will appear as Karen/Suit Lady, which means that she'll most likely voice the AI in Peter Parker's suit. Connelly played Betty Ross in Ang Lee's Hulk, but was replaced in the MCU by Liv Tyler.
The film will also feature two versions of the Shocker, the Herman Schultz version played by Bokeem Woodbine and the Jackson Brice version played by Logan Marshall-Green.
Lastly, Angourie Rice (The Nice Guys) is confirmed for the role of Betty Brant. She could be the J. Jonah Jameson connection, although it’s likely that Jameson will appear in the sequels.
