Filming is underway on the upcoming Marvel feature, “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” and we’re continuing to learn more about the movie’s cast. It was revealed yesterday that UFC champion Tyron Woodley will appear in the film, though the specific role he’ll play remains unknown.
Woodley took home the welterweight championship at the UFC 201 event last weekend in Atlanta, where “Homecoming” is currently being filmed. Tom Holland, the film’s star, was seen at the event as well.
Woodley shared the news of his participation in the movie during an interview on The MMA Hour, saying, “I don’t know if I can even say this, but I’m working on a Marvel movie on Thursday in Atlanta.” We hope Woodley didn’t get in trouble for this reveal; though he didn’t name the film explicitly, it’s well known that “Homecoming” is filming in the Georgia city. Rumors have also been circulating after Scarlett Johansson was spotted around the set recently, leading fans to wonder if Black Widow is part of the film’s plot.
As for Woodley, the fighter is no stranger to the big screen. He’s appeared in both “Straight Outta Compton” and “Olympus Has Fallen,” and has a role in the next “Fast & Furious” installment. We’ll be excited to learn more about Woodley’s involvement in the new Spider-Man film and how big a role he’ll play.
