The untitled Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel will apparently introduce a new character who might make Peter Parker’s life a bit difficult.
According to a new report from That Hashtag Show, casting director Sarah Finn launched a search for "a European actress in her 20s" to appear in Marvel Studios’ second solo movie for Tom Holland's webslinger. The character’s identity was still under wraps, but she was described as a "femme fatale". THS also suggested that Peter will "cross paths" with the mysterious character, who will "likely lead him into danger".
In another Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 European connection, some scenes will be filmed in Berlin, Germany. In addition, leaked audition tapes indicated that Gwen Stacy will appear in the movie, but not as the blond, blue-eyed American girl we know from Marvel Comics. Rather, the studio will revamp the character and cast a European actress with a thick accent.
We wouldn’t describe Gwen as a femme fatale, but if her appearance won’t stay true to the source material, her personality may also be altered for the movie.
Of course, the unspecified character may not be Gwen Stacy at all. If that’s the case, she could be Felicia Hardy, aka Black Cat. Like Gwen, she was American, and was Peter’s off-and-on love interest. But Felicia’s relationship with Peter is much more complicated than Gwen’s, and her moral compass tilts in another direction.
We already know that Felicia will share center stage with Silver Sablinova, aka Silver Sable, in Gina Prince-Bythewood’s upcoming Silver and Black. Tom Holland's character was rumored to show up in Venom, so it’s conceivable that Black Cat could appear in the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel, as well.
Besides Gwen and Felicia, it’s possible that Silver Sable or Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman, might be cast as Marvel’s femme fatale. Both are from fictitious "European" countries - Silver from the Eastern European Symkaria and native Londoner Jessica from Transia.
As a final guess, THS mentioned Kate Bishop, aka Hawkeye, although they admitted that it was "a shot in the dark". Here’s a video report:
