Obviously, everybody knows now that Sony has scratched all their plans for taking off the ground a Spider-Man shared universe. And it's not that bad an idea, considering the quality of the most recent films and the fact that Marvel will be in charge (sort of) of the Spider-Man movies from now on.
So where does this Spider-Gwen thingy come from? Well, literally from nowhere. It has happened, in the comics, so why wouldn't it happen in the movies?

While promoting their movies, all stars must give interviews during which they are asked all sorts of things "“ and maybe not the most intelligent ones. Such is the case of Emma Stone, who portrayed Gwen Stacy in the failed Amazing Spider-Man franchise.
While promoting Aloha (which, at the moment, seems to be like a dud, despite the stars involved in the film), Emma Stone was asked whether she would be interesting in portraying Spider-Gwen. As said, we have no clue where that question came from. And neither did she "“ hit 2 below and see how awkward things can get in the short interview!
