Doctor Strange was yet another successful Marvel movie, praised by critics and successful ($675 million) at the worldwide box office. A sequel hasn't been officially announced, but we can look forward to further installments in this solo franchise - after all, when Robert Downey, Jr. finally retires, which goateed superhero could take his place, other than Benedict Cumberbatch?
During a Q & A session on Twitter, director Scott Derrickson talked about the franchise’s future. Despite having no official confirmation, he said that he’s looking forward to the next two Doctor Strange installments:
Doctor Strange 2 and 3. Not necessarily in that order given the relativity of time and the Eye of Agamotto.
And Captain Marvel. https://t.co/YBRaNmwBF3

The director also teased a character close to Stephen Strange, a character who’s essential to the superhero's story. And this character is none other than Clea, the niece of Dormammu.
Asked about a villain for the next movie, Derrickson said that it could be Nightmare:
Possibly Nightmare, but he’s a tricky villain to get right. And you can’t tell the story of Doctor Strange w/out eventually dealing w/Clea. https://t.co/C4mZYgGkkA

That’s not all! During the same Q & A session, the director said we could see yet another character: Brother Voodoo. Kaecilius killed his brother (Daniel Drumm) while he was protecting the Sanctum Sanctorum in New York:
His brother Daniel was killed by Kaecilius, so what do you think? https://t.co/xu5CHUmFPw

Although Marvel hasn't officially announced the sequels, it appears that Scott Derrickson already knows what to do next.
Now, all that remains is for the studio to announce the second and the third movies"¦As Derrickson said, not necessarily in that order.
