Randall Park joins Ant-Man and the Wasp!

S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Jimmy Woo of Marvel Comics is all set to make his live-action debut in Ant-Man and the Wasp, the sequel to Peyton Reed's 2015 Marvel Cinematic Universe hit Ant-Man.

Tracking Board, Variety, and other outlets have all reported that Randall Park, who portrayed North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong-Un in The Interview, has landed the role of the Chinese-American secret agent. The character, created by writer Al Feldstein and artist Joe Maneely, made his first appearance in 1956’s Yellow Claw #1.

We have no further details on this newer version of Jimmy Woo or his significance to the plot. It’s also unclear whether he’ll have any connection with Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. But filming is expected to begin this month, so we can expect to come across more information in the coming days.

In addition to The Interview, Randall Park is also known for his portrayal of Minnesota governor Danny Chung in HBO's Veep and Eddie Huang's father Louis in ABC's Fresh Off the Boat. He also worked with lead actor Paul Rudd in the movies Dinner for Schmucks and They Came Together.

Park is the second fresh face to join the Ant-Man and the Wasp cast. The first was Killjoys star Hannah John-Kamen. The actress is rumored to play a "charismatic, eccentric, unpredictable, and damaged" character named Dawn. Janet van Dyne, wife of Michael Douglas' Hank Pym and mother of Evangeline Lilly's Hope van Dyne, is also expected to appear in the July 8, 2018 release. We’ll also see a new character named Victoria, who will serve as the love interest of Michael Peña's Luis.
