The official title for the sequel of Matthew Vaughn's most successful flick Kingsman: The Secret Service is Kingsman: The Golden Circle, according to the latest issue of Empire Magazine (via CBM). The issue also features an interview with Vaughn, who talks about the sequel:
I didn’t know if I wanted to direct this or not. I was worried about the villain. Spy films are only as good as their villains. Then one morning I woke up with the whole storyline in place, and a new villain plot.
According to the director, the June 17, 2017 release follows Taron Egerton as Eggsy and Mark Strong as Merlin, as they travel to the US to join forces with the Statesman - the American version of Kingsman - after the spy organization was demolished by Julianne Moore's lead villain, Poppy. The Statesman is led by a "swaggering, sharpshooting cowboy" named Jack, along with Ginger, played by Halle Berry.
When asked if he intends to recreate the infamous church sequence from the first movie in Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Matthew Vaughn responds:
You try not to read what people want, but they do want another church sequence. I have no reason for another massacre to happen. But I have other sequences you’ve never seen before.
