Last time we saw Odin in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was in Thor: The Dark World. After throwing some wisdom at Thor regarding the Aether and after his sons went to battle Malekith, he simply disappeared. In his place, at the end of the movie, Loki sat on the throne, without anybody knowing that his father was gone.
But where was Odin gone? According to director Alan Taylor, the All-Father was dead. Using magic and deceit, Loki killed him. And our question was - can it be that easy? Can one of the mightiest beings in the MCU perish without a battle, as if he was some third tier character?
Well, apparently, Odin isn't dead just yet. According to Geek.com, we haven't seen the last of Anthony Hopkins in the MCU. First of all, Loki must keep his disguise in order to keep the throne. Secondly, his stepdad isn't dead at all. Instead, in one way or another, he was sent to Earth.
And here things get a bit tricky. Was he banished and stripped of all his powers? Or did he decide to go into self-exile, knowing that he cannot face the threats to come? The website doesn't say anything about his reasons. But it reports with quite a lot of certainty that Odin is back on Earth, disguised as a hobo who warns everybody about the coming apocalypse.
And that sounds a bit hilarious, as well as an improper use of Hopkins' talents. So is there any truth to this report? Did you take some salt with it?
Of course, the direction can go the other way as well, since we know that the comic books Odin is a master strategist. So even if he is on the streets in some US city, predicting the end of the world, we do know that he is doing that for a reason. What reason is that? We have no idea.
