Nicholas Hoult first portrayed Beast in X-Men: The First Class, back in 2011. He then reprised his role in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Expect to see him in the upcoming Apocalypse. But after that, his future with the franchise is rather unclear.
And it's not because there is no room for Hank McCoy in the development of X-Men after Apocalypse. Hit the jump to learn more!
Apocalypse is the last movie Nicholas Hoult signed for
There is no telling how Beast will develop after Wolverine's time traveling schemes or what turn the plot will take following Apocalypse.
But one thing is certain: if Nicholas Hoult doesn't strike another deal with Fox, the franchise will have to recast Hank McCoy if they plan to continue exploring X-Men's feats at their younger age.
E Online learned from Nicholas Hoult himself his personal take on the matter.
In his own words, "This is the last one I’m signed up for". Which means there's a button one could push to get Nicholas Hoult back on board with the franchise.
The actor seems to be quite willing to renew the contract, drawing up his experience with the crew and cast: "The first one did so well and [Days of Future Past] got received so brilliantly".
And adds: "It’s like, ‘Wow, people really want to see the films’ and the best thing is it’s a great crew and cast to work with and he’s a fun character."
But will he continue with the X-Men?
Nicholas Hoult admits: "I have a good time playing him so I’d keep making them". So, clearly, the man brings a fair share of goodwill to the table.
And while Nicholas Hoult's possible split with X-Men does not mean Beast will also become a thing of the past, it's nice to see some continuity. Kind of like what Jackman did with Wolverine.
