One of the reports that revealed back in April that Creed star Tessa Thompson will be appearing in Thor: Ragnarok also claimed that Natalie Portman won't return as Jane Foster for the movie. According to that report, Tessa's character will serve as the new love-interest of Chris Hemsworth's Norse God of Thunder.
A month later, when Marvel announced the official cast roster for Thor: Ragnarok, they confirmed Tessa as Valkyrie but left out Portman's astrophysicist character. Now, in a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal (via Comic Book Movie), the Academy Award winning actress herself confirms that she won't appear in the upcoming Taika Waititi venture.
And that's not all! Natalie Portman believes that her days as Jane Foster are over! When asked about the possibility of returning in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a future movie, here's how she responds:
As far as I know, I'm done. I don't know if, maybe, one day they'll ask for an Avengers 7 or whatever. I have no idea! But as far as I know, I'm done.
However, the 35-year-old Israeli actress claims that her journey as Jane Foster "was all great", and she's glad to have been a part of the MCU.
Jane Foster's absence in Thor: Ragnarok makes sense, considering the fact that the movie's events will mostly take place away from Earth, in the other eight realms of Norse mythology.
However, according to a recent filming notice (via ABC Australia), the November 3, 2017 release will be shooting scenes on various streets of Brisbane for four days next week.
Avengers: Age of Ultron explained Jane Foster's absence by referring to her as being a candidate for the Nobel Prize for her work in astrophysics. But we don't know how Marvel will justify her absence in Thor: Ragnarok and future MCU installments.
Jane Foster may not be coming back, but it appears that the Warriors Three will return for Thor: Ragnarok.
Tadanobu Asano, the actor who portrays Hogun, has himself confirmed that he is in Australia via his official Instagram account. An Instagram user named Punktured Tatoo has shared a photo with Volstagg actor Ray Stevenson from the Gold Coast.
Zachary Levi (Fandral) hasn't been spotted yet, but with the other two having arrived in Australia, it's safe to assume that he, too, is there. He may have just managed to stay out of sight. Jamie Alexander (Lady Sif) may also have succeeded in lying low! Who knows!
