Doctor Strange Likely to be American!
Ever since Benedict Cumberbatch was confirmed to play Doctor Strange, speculations had started on whether his character will be an AMERICAN or BRITISH in the November 4, 2016 release. The Sherlock star is British but his character, in the comic book, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – which obviously means he’s an American.
Well, a British actor playing an American character is nothing new in Hollywood but rumors were all around that Marvel Studio’s Doctor Strange, unlike Marvel Comics’ Doctor Strange, will be a Brit. When Cumberbatch was asked eight months ago about his Marvel Cinematic Universe character’s origin, his answer was nothing more than a few seconds of shifty eyes. Now, Benedict Cumberbatch’s dialect coach, Sarah Shepherd, is also in Kathmandu, Nepal at the moment. We get to know this from no one else but Sarah herself! She has been posting a variety of images on her Instagram account which clearly reveal she’s there too. Now, would a British actor need his dialect coach to help him playing a British character? Very unlikely! From that, we can assume that Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange is an American just like in the comic books.
