For quite a while now, Kraven has been rumored to be the first villain Spider-Man will face in the MCU. This isn't all, because the fans have been expected this favorite character for quite a while.
And director Marc Webb (who helmed the Amazing Spider-Man franchise) actually intended to bring this villain to life. Of course, since the franchise was doomed, he won't do that any longer - but still, the rumor that Kraven will arrive in 2017 persists.
Even if some other new villains are presumed to make their first appearance on the big screen in the same year"¦
Vulture and Scorpion
In this way, about a week ago, a file was leaked on the internet containing the names of the big villains in Marvel's first Spider-Man. And neither of them was Kraven.
In this way, Billy Zane is in the final negotiations to portray Vulture, while Jason Biggs has almost signed for the role of Scorpion. While these aren't big names (any longer), Marvel has done a swell job at either reigniting careers, either launching new ones.
But why wouldn't Kraven be a better villain than these two? Check out on the next page!
A new beginning
Basically, the 2017 Spider-Man is all about a new beginning. Sure enough, it won't be another origin story for the crawler, as Kevin Feige said, but this Spider-Man is new when it comes to doing heroic stuff.
And this isn't all. For Kraven to arrive, the hero shouldn't be new - he should be established as an important superhero, on the same level with the other Avengers. And this won't happen any time soon. Why should Kraven come and hunt for a nobody who climbs walls? Kraven will only arrive when he will find Spider-Man as a worthy pray.
On the next page, the history of the hero and of the villain.
Kraven's Last Hunt
Kraven's Last Hunt is, basically, about the relationship between the villain and the hero - they have a common history, in which they already clashed for several times. In this way, this storyline is all about the villain finally subduing Spider-Man and taking his identity.
Leaving aside what was said on the previous page, an adaptation of Kraven's Last Hunt for 2017 will have to miss the whole point of the original storyline. Furthermore, since in the comic version Spider-Man end up being buried, an early adaptation will take away the thrills.
Will it be a Spider-Man movie? Or a Kraven-dressed-as-Spider-Man one?
On the next page, when should Kraven arrive on the big screens?
Kraven - later on, on Spider-Man
Basically, Kraven will have to become aware of the crawler. And it is a good thing if Vulture and Scorpion will arrive at first. When Spider-Man will defeat these two, when the crawler will defeat these predators, Kraven will have a reason to come snooping around.
Furthermore, the villain is known for going after bigger preys. Tom Holland is just a kid when compared to the rest of the MCU superheroes. Maybe he should put on some weight at first, right?
The first Spider-Man produced by Marvel will arrive in 2017 - it will most likely introduce two animal-based villains. Keeping in mind that Black Panther will be released in 2018, maybe a Phase IV sequel should introduce this awesome villain. For him to make sense in the MCU, animal-based heroes should be established…
However, a better time for adapting this storyline would be…
End of a trilogy
However, it would be even better if Kraven's Last Hunt was adapted at the end of the trilogy. Just like Marc Webb intended when Sony had the reins.
Sprinkle some hints in the first two movies and then make it happen!
