With filming expected to kick off next month at Atlanta's Pinewood Studios, Ant-Man and the Wasp has added Hannah John-Kamen, who plays Dutch in Space and Syfy's Killjoys, to the cast of the upcoming Ant-Man sequel.
According to Variety, the British actress has landed a "key role" in the July 6, 2018 release. However, the identity of the character and any further details have been kept under wraps, and the studio has declined to comment. The outlet added that Marvel Studios met with a number of actresses over the past month for the role before eventually settling on John-Kamen.
We know almost nothing about the plot of the twentieth Marvel Cinematic Universe installment, so it's hard to determine exactly which character John-Kamen might be playing. We also don't know whether her character is an ally of the superheroes, a villain, an original character, or a Marvel Comics character.
In addition to her role in Killjoys, John-Kamen has appeared in numerous television ventures, including Black Mirror, Game of Thrones, The Ark, and The Hour. While her big-screen credits are limited to her role as a First Order Officer in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, she’s set to appear as Helen Harris in Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One adaptation, and as Lara Croft's best friend Sophie in Tomb Raider reboot. Both movies are also scheduled to hit the theaters next year.
The Ant-Man and the Wasp cast roster also includes Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lily as the titular superheroes, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Michael Pena as Luis, T.I. as Dave, and David Dastmalchian as Kurt. Rudd and Gabriel Ferrari are penning the script, and Peyton Reed, who directed the original movie, will return.
