While the MCU has reigned supreme since the first Iron Man movie was released in 2008, it can’t be said that it’s a perfect shared cinematic universe. And its most talked-about flaw is its more-than-forgettable villains.
As it appears, this is actually part of the plan. And that’s because Kevin Feige is aware of how the MCU villains are seen by the audiences:
Well, I mean, it always varies, but it always starts with what serves the story the most and what serves the hero the most. We've been criticized, if a big criticism of ours is that we focus on the heroes more than the villains, I think that's probably true. I don't think it will always be true"¦(via Screen Rant)
Basically, Kevin Feige admitted that the villains are barely sketched in order to focus more on the heroes. And we don't really know what to think about that - does it mean that superhero movies can’t have awesome heroes and villains? After all, the MCU did give us Loki"¦
But Feige says this will change:
Thanos in Infinity War is, you know, in a movie that has a lot of characters. You could almost go so far as to say he is the main character, and that's a bit of a departure from what we've done before, but that was appropriate for a movie called Infinity War.
And this change has already been seen. After all, Zemo survived the Civil War and, as teased in his final scene, there are big plans for him in future movies. Furthermore, Doctor Strange has already established Baron Mordo as a powerful antagonist for the next sequel.
So what do you think? Will the MCU change from this point of view, as well?
