With the release of Doctor Strange approaching, more and more interviews with everybody involved in the making of the movie are surfacing. As such, until now, the most interesting have been the ones with Benedict Cumberbatch (who dropped the hint that the Illuminati are on their way into the MCU) and Kevin Feige (who attested to the existence of Dormammu in the shared universe).
This time around it is again Kevin Feige who introduces (or hints at) a new kind of concept. Thus, the mastermind behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe explained the difference between Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange.
And if you thought that one is the result of an experiment with an Infinity Stone (and so not a real magic user), while the other is a true sorcerer (Doctor Strange, obviously), then you are also wrong. And that is because Feige explicitly said that Wanda Maximoff is in fact a sorceress.
The difference between them isn't in the way these two have gained their powers. Instead, it is in how they trained with it. Here is what Kevin Feige says:
Her powers, she's never had any training, I'm talking about Scarlet Witch. She never had any training; she's figuring it out. Arguably, you could say that that's why her powers are much more chaotic and much looser in the way that we showcased those light effects. In [Doctor Strange], some of what you might see today, even the cover of Entertainment Weekly, it's much tighter. It's all about focus. It's all about pulling energies from other dimensions in an organized and purposeful fashion, which is why they can do a lot more than she can in, at least, a much more precise way (via CBM).
There is an obvious hint here that Doctor Strange will meet beings from other dimensions, specifically Dormammu. However, what is more interesting (from our point of view, at least) is that Feige acknowledges the existence of multiple kinds of magic. And one of them is the chaotic one.
And this is very important, since none of the magic users from the comics knew that chaos magic existed until Scarlet Witch used it. Moreover, it is this ability that helped her rewrite all reality in the House of M storyline.
