While Marvel is ages away as far as the big screen movies are concerned, its animations suffer a lot from both the visual and the story points of view. This isn't the case of DC, the studio releasing two or three animations each year.
If in 2014 there were released Son of Batman and Batman: Assault on Arkham (the latter being, basically, a Suicide Squad feature), yesterday it was announced that Justice League: Throne of Atlantis will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on the 27th of January 2015.
What's the story of Justice League: Throne of Atlantis?
Justice League: Throne of Atlantis will follow directly the animation Justice League: War, which basically restarted the DC Animated Universe and launched the 52 continuity.
After banishing Darkseid and forming the Justice League, we find out, in the final moments of the animation, that the Atlanteans are pretty upset because the fighting destroyed half of Atlantis (pretty much like how Aquaman will be introduced in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Basically, it will be an origin story of Aquaman
In a way, if Justice League: War was an origin story of Justice League and how it was formed in this new continuity, Justice League: Throne of Atlantis will be about Aquaman and how he becomes an important member of the Justice League.
In Justice League: Throne of Atlantis we will see Aquaman's half-brother Orm leading an army against the surface-dwellers. It is up to Aquaman, who is said to be a man of both worlds, to thwart this new invasion.

Of course, the animation looks almost (exactly) like all those starting from Justice League: War, and the script will be written by Heath Corson (Batman: Assault on Arkham). Jason O'Mara will voice Batman (to the disappointment of some of the fans), Jerry O'Connell will lend his voice to Superman, Nathan Fillion will be Green Lantern, Christopher Gorham will be once again The Flash, Sean Astin will portray Shazam, while Wonder Woman will be voiced by Rosario Dawson and Cyborg by Sean Patrick Thomas. The villainous Orm will be voiced by Sam Witwer.
