The Vision remains, so far, one of the most mysterious characters to be featured in Avengers: Age of Ultron. What we know for certain is Paul Bettany, who already lends his voice to the sardonic J.A.R.V.I.S., will impersonate the new controversial baddie. Or is he one of the good guys? Indeed, according to the official fictional biography, The Vision starts out as a villain, but he ends up teaming with the saviors of the day.
Will Avengers: Age of Ultron factor that biography in, or will the sequel twist it? If so, to what extent? The plot is too concise and airs no details out, let alone details about the origin and development of The Vision. But here is what Paul Bettany has to say. Or, better yet, what he won't say.
"J.A.R.V.I.S. will be there and so will The Vision"
In a short interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bettany is asked about the look of The Vision. Also, a question about the recently and increasingly rumored connection between J.A.R.V.I.S. and The Vision popped out.
Well, in regard to The Vision's look, Bettany confesses: "It's a secret I've kept for about three years, which is really hard, especially with three kids. I'm contractually obliged not to talk about it". Kudos for Bettany! No slip of the tongue for all these years? That's quite an achievement!
However, the voice behind J.A.R.V.I.S. keeps our hopes high: "I think all will be revealed very shortly", so we won't have to cling on the hazy posters that pop out here and there. More importantly, what he didn't deny is much more engaging that what he confirmed.
With a simple "J.A.R.V.I.S. will be there and so will The Vision. But I simply can’t tell you any more", Bettany lays the foundations of a world of speculations. Given the fact Bettany plays both J.A.R.V.I.S. and The Vision, it makes a lot of sense to think of the latter as an upgrade of the former.
But we'll hopefully get to see that soon. Avengers: Age of Ultron is due to arrive in theaters May 1st, 2015. Do you think we'll have to wait until then in order to learn more about The Vision's development? And how do you like the idea of a J.A.R.V.I.S.-born character? Chime in and share your thoughts!
