Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. II featured a clip at the San Diego Comic Con! Unfortunately, it won't be released for the entire world to see. And, also unfortunately, HYDRA seems to have taken a break this year. However, there is a lot of information to process already, with the surprise announcement of Kurt Russell's character. Is he the father of Peter Quill? Is he someone else?
The Marvel panel thus revealed that Kurt Russell is indeed portraying the father of Star Lord. However, unlike in the comics, he isn't Jason of Spartax. Instead it is none other than Ego the Living Planet! Which is weird - very weird. However, as James Gunn said in a lengthy Facebook post, it will all be explained once the movie is released.
I cannot wait to see how a planet procreated with a human female.
This isn't all. Another big reveal is that Sylvester Stallone is indeed in the movie! What character is he portraying? Well, the fans have to wait for this news, as well - but, apparently, the action superstar can be seen interacting with Yondu in the Comic Con teaser trailer.
Elizabeth Debicki was also confirmed as Ayesha, a role rumoured for quite some time now. While she is described as the high priestess of her genetically superior race, she is interesting from another point of view. She is, in fact, the sister of Him, also known as Adam Warlock. It seems like the perfect window of opportunity for this essential Infinity Gauntlet character to appear.
Lastly, Chris Sullivan was also confirmed as the big baddie of the movie, the supervillain Taserface. Apparently, the actor was hired to portray the same role a few years back, when James Gunn was casting for the first Guardians of the Galaxy.
So what do you think?
