Frank Grillo will reprise his role as Crossbones in Captain America: Civil War - we've all known that since early April this year.
And now that shooting began, plenty of leaked images from the set have graced us with first and second looks at Steve Rogers's nemesis.
These images confirm the rumor started before the beginning of filming: that Crossbones will be putting on the coolest costume of all. Cooler than Cap's and cooler than Falcon's anyway.
But we haven't heard too much from Frank Grillo about the ongoing shooting or about his character. Now, hit the jump to see what Grillo has to say about all that!
Frank Grillo on Crossbones and costume
In an interview for WMMR, partly rendered by Comic Book Movie, Frank Grillo discloses the following about his character:
"Crossbones is a violent, violent villain in these series," says Grillo. And adds "["¦] I finally feel I’ve been understood now. I feel complete; [people] get me", jokingly hinting at the fact his real alter-ego is exactly like Crossbones.
As to the way fans responded to the first leaked images of his costume, well, Frank Grillo put it like this, confirming the rumor about his awesome graffiti-esque costume eventually stuck.
"It’s funny because people really responded to it – it went viral, trended [like crazy], so I’ve been getting phone calls."
"¦ and filming Civil War
As you could see from the load of leaked pictures, they seem like they have tons of fun on the set. And Frank Grillo confirms:
"[These movies] film for months and months and there’s a lot of characters, so It’s great fun. ["¦] And everybody down here gets along real well. Me, Evans, Anthony Mackie, and Jeremy Renner were hanging out last night, having some food. Just a bunch of cool guys getting a chance to be eight-year-olds for a little while."
As to him already having wrapped shooting, Frank Grillo said: "My part of it is down here in Atlanta, but I think they are going off to Berlin for a little while".
Unfortunately, Grillo said nothing about his much expected fight with Cap, not even the slightest hint at the possibility of him actually assassinating Steve Rogers. Hopefully, we'll learn more on the way.
So, there you have it: Crossbones had his say! Now, what do you think, guys? Isn't his costume as cool as anticipated? Will he be the one who “invites” Cap to meet his maker in Civil War, if at all?
