Fox Still Intends to Make a Fantastic Four Sequel!

Fox still wants to make another Fantastic Four movie with the same cast!

Fantastic Four might be one of the most popular superhero teams in comic books, but their live-action movies haven't performed that well to date. The last one, which was released last year, can be viewed as being synonymous with DISASTER! It's hated by critics and audiences alike.

20th Century Fox had announced a sequel with a scheduled release date of July 14, 2017, even before the Josh Trank flick had kicked off its filming, but it disappeared from their timeline soon after its release.

Since then, we've been hearing rumors about Fantastic Four moving to Marvel Studios from Fox. But now, it appears that this isn't happening! In a recent interview with Den of Geek, Fox's Marvel Universe spearhead Simon Kinberg reveals that they still "want to make another Fantastic Four movie"!

And they intend to bring back Miles Teller as Mister Fantastic, Michael B. Jordan as The Human Torch, Kate Mara as The Invisible Woman, and Jamie Bell as The Thing. Kinberg claims that they love that cast, continuing, “We’re working really hard on figuring that out. Nothing would make me happier than the world embracing a Fantastic Four movie.”

However, Simon Kinberg doesn't hesitate to admit that the August 7, 2015 release was not "a good movie". He also confesses that they made "many mistakes" in making the movie. But he claims that they've learned from those mistakes, and won't repeat them. He explains:

We’ll try to be truer to the essence of the tone of Fantastic Four, which is completely – well, not completely, but largely – distinct from the X-Men, which is brighter, funner, more optimistic in tone. I think we tried to make a darker Fantastic Four movie, which seemed like a radical idea. But we were kind of messing with the DNA of the actual comic instead of trusting the DNA of the comic.

Kinberg's words are pretty convincing, but are they convincing enough to make us really look forward to a Fantastic Four sequel? I, personally, would like to see Marvel's first superhero team in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

But, would you like to see a Fantastic Four movie with the same cast? Share via comments!
