For a while now, one of the hot topics for speculation among fans is who might portray Nathan Summers, aka Cable, in the second Deadpool installment. There are a number of names that have come up as the perfect fit for the role. One of them is Dolph Lundgren. The Swedish actor – who came into the spotlight playing Ivan Drago in Rocky VI - has already played a Marvel superhero, the titular superhero in the 1989 flick The Punisher.
And it seems like Dolph is pretty much open to landing himself another Marvel superhero role! Speaking to Nerdist recently, the 58-year-old actor expresses his willingness to portray Cable in the sequel to the Merc with a Mouth's standalone flick. Here's what he says:
I did hear in"¦Deadpool, isn't there a character named Cable that's coming? Like, he's a big guy? I guess I could kick some butt doing that, I suppose. We'll see. When I saw the picture, he looks a little bit like Ivan Drago mixed with Gunner Jensen mixed with"¦I don't know.
Well, there are striking resemblances between Dolph Lundgren and Cable, you gotta admit that. He might not be one of the best actors in Hollywood, but he's got enough potential to nail the badass time-traveling mutant. We did put him on our list of actors who are best fits for the role.
But obviously, he's got some serious competition. Avatar star Stephen Lang, too, is eager to portray Cable. He expressed his desire openly via social media. But perhaps the most heavyweight contender for this role is Keira Knightley, as the Merc himself suggested her name!
Jokes apart, I wouldn't mind Dolph or Lang as Cable in the Deadpool sequel. I believe either of them could pull it off perfectly. But what is your opinion?
