The Fantastic Four trailer, released by 20th Century Fox January 27th, surely exceeded expectations. It was very well received. It scored points with the fans but, unexpectedly - or not - it also broke the views record.
Until the Fantastic Four trailer, 20th Century Fox only had X-Men: Days of Future Past to boast of: this one scored well above 30 million views until late-December, 2014. Who would have thought the Fantastic Four trailer would outdo the X-Men?
42 million hits for Fantastic Fours trailer
By now, the Fantastic Four trailer has reportedly registered 40 something million views. Do you care to know how it managed to do that? According to Simon Kinberg, writer and producer of Fantastic Four, the whole movie will be different from what the previous adaptation of the comic book story brought out.
When asked about a potential X-Men / Fantastic Four crossover, Simon Kinberg talked a lot about how they worked on the reboot in order to make it worthy of a crossover with the other Marvel team.
Kinberg is again quoted by Entertainment Weekly: "We really wanted to let people know: This is a Fantastic Four movie that takes character seriously, that has hard-tech science-fiction, and it has an intensity that you may not expect from this franchise."
As far as the Fantastic Four trailer is concerned, the producer further explains:
"We took our time with that trailer. What we were trying to tell people was: Here's the tone of the movie. My favorite trailers are the ones who set the world, the tone, the voice of the movie, without telling you too much about the story. ["¦] It's totally different from what the previous movies had done, ["¦] And it's much more akin to what the Ultimate Fantastic Four series did."
With that in mind, let's not forget some fans didn't let themselves carried away by the wave of enthusiasm. Criticism is just as flourishing as appraisal.
