Entirely Different Genre Template for Ant-Man and The Wasp!

Ant-Man and the Wasp

Ant-Man and the Wasp is one of those movies that were included later on the Phase Three timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We all know why it was included, don't we? Because Ant-Man turned into a blockbuster! Well, a movie that grosses over $500 million from the worldwide box office is definitely a blockbuster!

Ant-Man director Peyton Reed will return to helm the sequel as well - that has been confirmed. So, what's in his plans for the July 6, 2018 release? Too early to ask, but he has indeed been asked that question by Comic Book Resources recently. And here's how he has replied:

"I think there’s probably going to be some aspects that maybe call back to the tone of [the first movie], but for Ant-Man and the Wasp, we have an entirely different template. We know what that template is, and we have an entirely different genre template for that movie.

What could that ENTIRELY DIFFERENT TEMPLATE be? Is it too early to predict too?

Ant-Man and The Wasp – An Actual Partnership!

Well, we obviously expect to see Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly's characters to suit up as their superhero alter-egos in the sequel. If not, why would they name the movie Ant-Man and the Wasp? And Reed is most excited to have Hope van Dyne suited up as the Wasp. And he is also excited about the idea the two superheroes have had a partnership in the history of Marvel Comics. The director added:

"It’s a different dynamic than we’ve seen in the rest of the Marvel movies, an actual partnership. You’ve got Captain America and the Falcon, obviously. But this is a thing that in the comics was a romantic partnership and a heroic partnership, so it’s going to be fun to play around with that and discover what the movie version of that is.

Things That Peyton Reed Didn't Discard!

Well, there's the "˜too early' thing that gets into almost every question asked to Peyton Reed on Ant-Man and the Wasp. But that's understandable - the movie is still more than two and a half years away from the hitting the theaters. But there are things that the director hasn't thrown away when asked about them.

One of those is the idea offered by Michael Douglas to cast his real life wife as on screen wife! Catherine Zeta-Jones as Janet van Dyne - Reed thinks it is "˜great to have that on the table!'

When asked about whether we will get more flashback sequences in Ant-Man and the Wasp, the director said:

"Yeah, I mean, it’s something that we’re discussing, and we’ll see if it actually works within the context of the story.

When asked if he is intrigued on a story level by Ant-Man's multiple identity aspect in the comics - such as Giant Man and Goliath - Reed didn't seem to kill our hope! I didn't mean Evangeline Lilly's Hope!
