Donnie Yen is Interested in Playing Namor the Sub-Mariner

To say that Disney rules at the box office is a big understatement. The Mouse House obliterated the competition with 2016’s top five highest grossing movies. Disney also owns two of the most successful movie franchises of all time: Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As far as Star Wars is concerned, last year's Rogue One exceeded all expectations and joined the billion dollar club. Who would have thought that a prequel could actually work?

But what does that have to do with the MCU?

Chirrut (Screen Rant)

It appears that Rogue One's Donnie Yen (who played the awesome Chirrut) is interested in jumping over to Disney's other big franchise. Rumors recently started flying about the possibility that Marvel is working on a Namor the Sub-Mariner project. Fans have started making lists, and the actor’s name has appeared on quite a few of them. When this came to the actor's attention, he tweeted that it’s an awesome idea:

Donnie Yen is 53 years old, but he’s a real action star who has a large fan-base. He’s appeared in xXx: Return of Xander Cage and his Ip Man franchise is still going strong. This has to mean something to Disney (after all, every studio wants to release its movies in China). So why not? We feel that the actor has what it takes to star in a couple of good movies as Namor the Sub-Mariner over the next five or ten years.

Namor (Digital Spy)It remains to be seen whether Marvel will indeed develop a Namor project. If they do, do you think Donnie Yen would be the best choice to play the superhero?
