The latest Doctor Strange TV spot gives us a closer look at the Sorcerer Supreme’s pre-superhero past.

The film, the first of many MCU releases planned in the next few years, follows the origin story of Strange, a famed neurosurgeon who experiences a fall from grace after his hands are crippled in a car accident. He’s introduced to the magical world beyond our own, and is tasked with protecting Earth from a variety of mystical threats.

New TV spots are being released in rapid succession in the final month before the movie’s theatrical release, but this spot gives us more background on Stephen Strange’s life than we’ve seen so far (including his success as a surgeon and his egotistical personality), as well as a peek into the early stages of his relationship with The Ancient One.

Doctor Strange hits theaters November 4, and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Mads Mikkelsen, and Tilda Swinton.
