Doctor Strange – Powers Explained by Marvel Boss!

Kevin Feige explains powers of Doctor Strange

Yesterday we got our first, second and third official look at Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange and a set of concept art from the movie. Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we have more on the movie today! What do I mean by MORE? No, no more stills! And not even a clip! Then what?

Well, we have been offered a detailed explanation on the Sorcerer Supreme's powers! And this explanation comes from none other than Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige!

As we all know, Scott Derrickson's Doctor Strange is an origin story for the character. So, obviously he won't have powers at the beginning of the movie. But Kevin Feige claims that he would eventually be able to do "˜a whole host of things'!

In the comic books, the Sorcerer Supreme casts spells that have kind of "˜tongue-twisty fun names'. The Marvel President promises the same for the movie as well. He explained:

"We don't want to shy away from that, because that's what makes Doctor Strange Doctor Strange.

And here's more from Feige on the powers of the new character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe:

"He can create these mandalas of light that he can use as shields and he can use as sort of weapons. He can create portalas that will open before your eyes that he can step through and go to other places around the world. And frankly, even in this film, we'll only touch upon what a lot of his powers are.

Well, he's been described in the comic books as "˜the mightiest magician in the cosmos' - so, it's obviously difficult to touch all his powers in just one movie.

Two Signature Pieces for Doctor Strange

In the November 4, 2016 release, two signature pieces will help the titular character - the Cloak of Levitation and the Eye of Agamotto. That's what Kevin Feige has confirmed in the interview. Here's how he described the first one:

"He has a Cloak of Levitation that allows him to fly, but he doesn't fly like Superman or like Thor.

According to the Marvel President, the cloak has a kind of "˜consciousness of its own' and is "˜wholly unique and wholly original' from a conventional red cape of some superhero.

The most interesting part of the explanation is that of the Eye of Agamoto which seems to indicate the introduction of another Infinity Stone. Read what he said below on the amulet ATTENTIVELY:

"In this film, the Eye is a very important relic that can be quite dangerous if used in the wrong hands, because it has the ability to do any number of things, the most dangerous of which is, it can sort of manipulate probabilities. Which is also another way of saying, "˜screw around with time' "” which is part of our story.

Is that the Time Stone? Does that mean Time Travel is finally coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
