One of the first set photos from Captain America: Civil War saw a grieving Steve Rogers at a funeral. So, in a way, the writers/director of the movie couldn't be blunter: there will be death during this movie. But the biggest question was: who did die? Why was the Cap so saddened by the death? Does this mean that Civil War will end with the ranks of the Avengers diminishing even more?
Let loose to all the rumors! Check them out below, because they aren’t spoilers any longer, since they have been debunked!
The rumored deaths
First off, it was believed that the funeral was that of T’Chaka, none other than Black Panther's father. Of course, in the comics, the former king of Wakanda was killed by Klaue, who was just introduced during the Age of Ultron. So did the Civil War show the death of the king, with Black Panther tying the pieces together during his solo movie? No, this wasn't the case.
Another rumor was that the Winter Soldier was going to bite the dust during the Civil War, which would have explained Steve Roger's grief. A former spy who has killed lots of people, including Tony Stark's parents, sure has a lot of enemies - but this wasn't the case either.
Check out on the next page whose funeral you saw!
The Civil War funeral
As said, none of the above characters meets their demise during the Civil War - well, at least that is not their funeral. Instead, it is a figure from the past that has died, a figure dear to Steve Rogers. Who might that be? Well, check out the pic below, shot by an extra from the Civil War set!
There you go, the mystery is solved! For the moment, we only know of Peggy Carter to die during this film. And that happens because of old age, presumably - after all, it does say that she lived for 95 years"¦
