When James Gunn brought Chris Pratt as Star Lord, the actor was still a bit too puffy for the role. So nobody really believed that the Parks and Recreation actor was a good choice. But, jumping a few years forward, Chris Pratt has proved everybody wrong.
After the firing of James Gunn, Dave Bautista was the first to jump in the defence of the director. The wrestler turned actor went as far as threating to quit after Gunn's dismissal. In turn, Michael Rooker quit Twitter after this event.
But the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy actors (including Chris Pratt) waited a while until they released a statement. It was indeed in support of the director - however, it wasn't as unequivocal as the reactions of the other two actors.
Now, after so much as passed since Gunn's firing, Chris Pratt has directly addressed this subject. During an interview with Associated Press, the actor said that these are rough times for him and the other cast members.
On one hand, the actor says they do feel love for the director. On the other hand, they also love playing as the Guardians of the Galaxy. So he is very careful about the words he uses and how he uses them:
"It's not an easy time. We all love James and he's a good friend of ours, but we also really love playing the Guardians of the Galaxy. It's a complicated situation for everybody. And you know, we just want to move forward and do what's right and be the best people we can be."
But this doesn't mean that he has forgotten about the statement made:
"All I know is we put a lot of time, thought and effort into the statement that we released about it. And I think we all kind of want that statement to be essentially what we have to say about it. And we were pretty clear and honest about how we feel."
For the moment, Guardians of the Galaxy 3 has no writer and no director. So we can expect for the release of the film to be delayed.
