With the Inhumans project now dead in the water, Captain Marvel is moving forward - Kevin Feige recently said that an official casting announcement will be made in a couple of months, together with the announcement of the female director. So who could end up portraying Carol Danvers, and who will be at the helm of the first solo super heroine film in the MCU?
During the Meet the Movie Press show, Jeff Sneider from The Wrap teased both the actress and the female director of Captain Marvel. According to him, the fans guessed online who Marvel’s choice was to play Captain Marvel quite a long time ago. At the same time, he said that the studio has decided to go with a female director for Captain Marvel, and that the female director shares a first name with the star of the movie.
Among the many actresses rumored to have been cast as Carol Danvers, Emily Blunt's name has come up with the greatest frequency in the rumors. And, according to CBM, it does add up, since a couple of female directors with the same first name have already made names for themselves outside of the superhero genre (and, as we know, Marvel loves this kind of relatively unknown directors).
Thus, the website puts forward just a few names for Captain Marvel's director's chair: Emily Carmichael (Sundance, Tribeca, SXSW, and Slamdance darling), Emily Young (Veronika Decides to Die) and Emily Ting (Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong).
Just to remind you: These are just rumors. However, Jeff Sneider believes that an official announcement will be made, most likely during this year's Comic Con.
