This year's San Diego Comic Con included some news and announcements about the upcoming Captain Marvel movie. We learned that Samuel L. Jackson will indeed appear as Nick Fury, and that the film will take place in the 1990s, a time period that the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn’t really explored yet. But the most exciting Captain Marvel reveal was that the movie will introduce the Skrulls and the Super-Skrulls.
Speculation has run rampant since SDCC, and fans are hoping for a Secret Invasion to take place in the near future. Some assume that this is why Kevin Feige hasn't revealed the title of Avengers 4, although we doubt that.

In the comics, the Skrulls are a shape-shifting alien race. They’re almost constantly at war with the Kree Empire, which was introduced in Guardians of the Galaxy. Their shape-shifting abilities helped the Skrulls as they planned to invade Earth and replace many of its heroes with their own. This secret invasion was followed by an all-out war, with the introduction of the Super-Skrulls – who have the same abilities as Earth’s heroes – as the first line of attack against Earth.
Concept art that was unveiled at SDCC depicts the battle between the Skrulls and Captain Marvel. A new piece of concept art that shows how the Skrulls look up close and personal just surfaced online. Check it out below:
Captain Marvel will be released on the 8th of March 2019. So far, the only confirmed cast members are Brie Larson as Captain Marvel and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.
