While the Captain Marvel solo movie, focused on the Carol Danvers character, won't arrive until late 2018 (well after the first Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 movie), can we expect some info about the flick in the upcoming months? Well, simply put it, no - and this info comes from Kevin Feige himself, the man considered the mind behind the success of the MCU.
But this is just the simple version of the answer. And that is because Kevin Feige himself offered some new updates on the movie and the character herself. So what did he say about Captain Marvel?
No announcements, but"¦
"¦ Captain Marvel was actually supposed to appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron. To mark the release of this year's Avengers DVD, Kevin Feige gave an ample interview concerning all Marvel related projects. Obviously, he also talked about certain cameos which were supposed to be featured in Age of Ultron. Unsurprisingly (given the rumors which said that Captain Marvel will appear at the end of the Avengers film), he did confirm this rumor.
But Feige didn't just confirm it. He also gave further explanation concerning this new character. According to him, Captain Marvel was written to appear when Captain America greets the new Avengers. Thus, besides Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Vision, and War Machine, Danvers was also supposed to make an appearance.
What happened and why didn't they include the scene (which was shot, by the way)? Check out on the next page!
So they did cast Captain Marvel"¦ Or didn't they?
According to Feige, this didn't seem the right time for Captain Marvel to make an appearance. She is too an important character to just pop out of nowhere at the end of the movie. What would the fans make of it?
Of course, there would have been excitement. But her appearance wouldn't have made any sense at all. Who is that new woman in that Captain Marvel outfit? Was the buzz going to last until her first solo appearance? Feige believed that these questions had all negative answers - so, ultimately, they decided to cut the scene out.
Furthermore, Feige also said that this new team (the old Avengers + the newly introduced ones) should prove themselves as a team before accepting another hero into their ranks. Obviously, this seems to suggest either of two things.
The first one is that the Iron Man team and the Captain America team will unite at the end of the Civil War in order to battle a big threat - it doesn't seem impossible, especially since we don't know anything about Zemo's role in the Civil War.
The second one is that the first Infinity War won't feature Captain Marvel - only the old and the new Avengers that we know of.
And this brings another question - if the scene was actually shot, was the character cast already? If so, then this is one very well hidden secret. We might have the answer - check out the next page!
Captain Marvel - script, further appearances and more
Feige says, quite funnily, “I think right now we're scripting the film", as if he doesn't really know. Yes, we don't believe him. In any way, he does say that they are still figuring out how they want to shape Captain Marvel and how the entire solo flick should play out.
And this isn't all, since Feige also said that Captain Marvel will also be featured in other Phase III movies - though he doesn't say which movies are those. If we are going to make some sort of bets, we would say that she will only cameo in one of two films. The first one and the safest bet is the first Infinity War, where we might see her origin story.
As one of the rumors said, she will be introduced just as a regular human who encounters some alien technology. This doesn't go well for her, since she is hospitalized in a coma - only the end of the film she was supposed to rise as Captain Marvel.
The other option is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. II - though James Gunn did hint that a new female superhero will be introduced, we have no idea as to how this will play out. After all, we don't expect for the Guardians to come visit Earth just yet.

Ronda Rousey as Captain Marvel
As expected, Feige was also asked which actress portrays Captain Marvel. As said, if the actress was already cast, this is a well-kept secret. So, most obviously, Feige said nothing about it.
But he did give us a hint. When asked about fan-casting, the Marvel boss said that he would be excited to see Ronda Rousey as Captain Marvel. And he is even more excited for the MMA fighter campaigning for the role - and that is because he loves it when people actually show interest for all Marvel related things.
Would this work? Can Ronda Rousey bring Carol Danvers to life? Here is what producer Jeremy Latcham says: "You look at the ways we’ve cast our films in the past and it’s always about who’s the best person to inhabit the character, whether that is an actor like Chris Hemsworth who bulks up, or a wrestler like Dave Bautista who played Drax who ends up being an amazing performer, an amazing actor and a clever and witty and pointed comedic actor." (via Comic Book Movie)
To some extent, he is right - but we have to say that Dave Bautista didn't have such a big role. After all, he portrayed a secondary character in a flick filled with secondary characters. So he didn't actually have to show off his acting abilities.
Carol Danvers is just one character, with a solo movie dedicated to her. Can Ronda Rousey do her justice? Can she show something else than fighting abilities? We kind of doubt it. We don't really believe that she would do well as Captain Marvel.
But what do you think? Was Captain Marvel already cast? Can Ronda Rousey play the part?
