Time and time again, ever since it was announced, Captain America: Civil War has been called Avengers 2.5. Not only it will bring to life one of the best Marvel storylines, but it will also bring together on the silver screens the largest number of superheroes.
Granted, it won't be anything as big as the comics, but still - there are at least 12 superheroes set to appear, with possible cameos from others. And we are not even talking about the villains (the villainous ones, that is) - this movie will be crowded, to say the least.
So what do some of the stars thing about Captain America: Civil War being in fact an Avengers movie? Check it out!
Sebastian Stan about the Winter Soldier
Ever since Captain America: The First Avenger was released, everybody wanted to see what will happen next with Bucky - just like in the comics, everybody expects from him to become the next Captain America, once Chris Evans will vacate the role.
But what does the actor say?
Well, firstly he believes that the Winter Soldier's place isn't in a full-blown Avengers movie. As he points out, his character is just a regular guy, with a metal arm. And, for a second, he is right - against powerhouses such as Vision and Scarlet Witch he is utterly useless.
But is he a regular man? Check out the next page to see what the actor said!
A regular guy no more
We don't expect for the Winter Soldier to engage characters such as the ones mentioned by the actor. But does this mean that he is just a regular guy? Not really, as the actor said - he does have a metal arm and a serum situation going on. But still, when compared to others, he is like just as normal as anybody else.
Of course, we do know that even Captain America can be called like that, when compared to, say, Thor. But we did see Captain America actually putting up a fight against a God. So why wouldn't the Winter Soldier do it? He does have a metal arm, right?
"He's got this metal arm and stuff, sort of the serum situation, but he's sort of just a dude. It's funny placing him next to the Scarlet Witch or something where she's got all the stuff"” [waves his hand, imitating Wanda doing magic] I'm going, "What is he going to do? He's just going to sort of block a lot of stuff with his metal arm." But I think it's good, it's relatable. He could die at any point." (via Cinema Blend)
But he could have much more than that - check out the next page!
Sebastian Stan wants the shield
When asked whether or not he sees himself becoming Captain America, the actor said that he hopes it will happen before he gets too old.
However, it isn't something that he is actively pursuing. Being the Winter Soldier is something that engulfs him completely - so he does not have the time or the energy to daydream about one day becoming Captain America.
Of course, this happens in the comics - and with an indestructible shield and a metal arm even the Winter Soldier could challenge much stronger and much more powerful characters than he is.
But, leaving Captain America: Civil War aside, Sebastian Stan did accept a challenge. Check out the next page too!
A response to Zack Snyder
A couple of days ago, Zack Snyder said that DC and Warner Bros are trying to create something that will last, something that is very different than what Marvel is doing - namely, the director said about Batman and Superman, "They're not just, like, the flavour of the week Ant-Man - not to be mean, but whatever it is. What is the next Blank-Man?"
So, when asked about this statement, Sebastian Stan said that the Russo brothers (who directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, and who will direct both of the Infinity War movies) have brought something new to Marvel. He didn't say that they brought realism - but that is what we believe.
Then he added: "They're not trying to mimic a better Christopher Nolan movie or something like that."
That is such a burn! And Sebastian Stan is right - Snyder has been said to mimic the gritty and realistic style of Nolan. But will he respond? Probably not - he is too big for that (fi you catch our drift).
In any way, let the Russo brothers bring yet another awesome Captain America movie. Next year we will see who was the most original director.
