He throws a sticky grenade, which attaches itself to the shield "“ Steve throws it away, but still flinches when it explodes in the air. At this moment, Crossbones attacks from the back "“ but is (apparently) subdued pretty easily. After his gauntlets are torn apart, he produces a blade with which he attacks the hero. In the ensuing fight, his helmet is cracked open.

Black Widow also appears in this opening scene, doing her signature move (the one with which she impressed in Iron Man 2 "“ the leg wrap).
