After bagging more than $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office, Black Panther was a standout winner at the 2018 MTV Movie and TV Awards as well. By the end of the ceremony, the Marvel Cinematic Universe installment and Netflix's Stranger Things each won four awards and tied as top winners.
The award for Best Villain went to Michael B. Jordan (Erik Killmonger). The Black Panther nemesis outshone a number of imposing baddies to take the honors, including Thanos (Josh Brolin/Avengers: Infinity War), Kylo Ren (Adam Driver/Star Wars: The Last Jedi), Lenny Busker (Aubrey Plaza/Legion), and Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård/It) (via MTV).
Chadwick Boseman (T'Challa/Black Panther) nabbed the Best Hero trophy over Gal Gadot (Diana Prince/Wonder Woman), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen/Game of Thrones), Grant Gustin (Barry Allen/The Flash), and Daisy Ridley (Rey/The Last Jedi).
Boseman also won for Best Performance In A Movie. The other nominees were Timothée Chalamet (Call Me by Your Name), Ansel Elgort (Baby Driver), Daisy Ridley (The Last Jedi), and Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird).
Finally, Black Panther won the coveted Best Movie award over Infinity War, Girls Trip, It, and Wonder Woman.
Infinity War went home trophy-less, in spite of the impressive $2 billion it brought in at the worldwide box office. Wonder Woman brought home the Best Fight award, thanks to the visually epic scene in which the titular superhero knocks a bunch of German soldiers right off their feet.
