In anticipation of San Diego Comic Con, Entertainment Weekly released a new batch of photos of the Black Panther movie’s heroes and villains. Comic book fans will most likely recognize the characters, but the portraits and descriptions may offer fresh insights for casual moviegoers.
Of course, the titular character was introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Captain America: Civil War. Check out his portrait below:

Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) is one of Wakanda's top spies. Her job is to protect her nation's interests around the globe, which involves undercover work. However, she manages to blend in without compromising her own personal style.

Okoye (Danai Gurira), is the leader of the Dora Milaje, the all-female secret service that protects the king of Wakanda. Kevin Feige has said that Okoye will steal every scene.

W’Kabi (Daniel Kaluuya), is T'Challa's best friend, as well as head of security for the Border Tribe. Wakanda is composed of multiple tribes, and the Border Tribe is the first line of defense against external threats. In the movie, W'Kabi also becomes T'Challa's advisor.

Shuri (Letitia Wright), T'Challa's sister, is a genius who’s in charge of the entire Wakandan design group. She’s directly responsible for many of the technological advancements that make Wakanda the most powerful state in the world.

Zuri (Forest Whitaker) is a religious and spiritual figure who was a close friend of T’Chaka, the former king. Director Ryan Coogler has said that he’s the film’s Wise Old Man who offers guidance whenever the young king needs it.

Ramonda (Angela Bassett), is the Queen and T'Challa’s mother. Her first duty is to ensure the peaceful transition of power. However, when things get complicated, her only interest is in her son’s well-being.

Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) is a Wakandan who disagrees with the current ruler. The character's origins have changed, and rather than an exiled dissident, Killmonger is one of the people.

M’Baku (Winston Duke), is a Wakandan tribal leader. We recently learned that he won't be known as Man Ape in the movie, although he wears the fur of a white gorilla.
