While we don't know whether Fantastic Four will ever arrive in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we do know that an actor who recently played a Fantastic Four member is joining the Universe! Michael B. Jordan has sealed a deal with Marvel Studios to join the Black Panther movie, confirms The Hollywood Reporter!
Jordan played Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, in Josh Trank's Fantastic Four. Even though the movie is considered one of the worst comic book movies of all time, Simon Kinberg recently confirmed that they still have plans for a sequel featuring the same cast. Jordan, too, had expressed his desire to return as Human Torch. That means the 29-year-old actor is concurrently playing two distinct Marvel roles. That's pretty rare, isn't it?
According to the report, Michael B. Jordan will be portraying a villainous character in the Black Panther movie. But the name of his character or any further details remains undisclosed. Marvel hasn't offered a comment on the casting.
If the character is from the comic books, my first guess would be T'Challa's adopted elder brother White Wolf. That would be a perfect role for Jordan. But there are numerous other Black Panther villains that he might have signed on for.
He could be playing Achebe, Erik Killmonger or Man-Ape. It could also be a brand new character created especially for the February 16, 2018 release.
The Black Panther movie will be the third time that Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan have worked together. Jordan starred as Oscar Grant in the 2013 flick Fruitvale Station and Adonis Creed in last year's Creed. Both movies were written and directed by Coogler, and both won critical acclaim. Jordan's Creed co-star Tessa Thompson has already joined the MCU, as the female lead in Thor: Ragnarok.
We’ve also learned that Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Lupita Nyong'o is in talks to possibly join Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan in the Black Panther movie.
