Both Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War kicked off production at Atlanta's Pinewood Studios last month, although an official announcement for the latter wasn't made at the time. However, Marvel Studios finally made the announcement, and they did it in a highly unique manner!
While we were expecting a press release, the studio launched a totally awesome first-look video that announced that the cameras started rolling for Avengers: Infinity War on January 23, 2017. The video also featured a bunch of new concept art, some behind-the-scenes footage, and words from Marvel President Kevin Feige, directors Joe and Anthony Russo, screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, and cast members like Robert Downey, Jr., Tom Holland, and Chris Pratt.
One of the video’s notable features was that it confirms (or re-confirms, in most cases) the return of certain characters, including Holland's Spider-Man, Chris Hemsworth's Thor, Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange, Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch, Sebastian Stan's Winter Soldier, and Anthony Mackie's Falcon.
A number of Guardians of the Galaxy team members had confirmed their appearances, but Feige made it clear in the video that the entire team will show up in the May 4, 2018 release. There was also a piece of concept art featuring Rocket Raccoon from the team of space-faring anti-heroes and Hemsworth's Norse God of Thunder.
Included with the other Avengers: Infinity War artwork were two images of Josh Brolin's Thanos and one image of Tony Stark with several of his brand new Iron Man suits. Check them out below!
The video revealed that Tony sensed the arrival of Thanos and his army, and he would try his best to keep the planet safe. Kevin Feige promised that the movie would show why Brolin's Mad Titan is "the biggest, the best, the baddest villain" ever. Here's the video for you!
Robert Downey, Jr. also posted a Facebook Live video from the set of Avengers: Infinity War that had Tom Holland serving as his own "camera guy"! At one point in the video, the Russo Brothers popped up to answer a few questions. Chris Pratt appeared, too, but before he could answer a single fan-query, RDJ asked Holland to stop recording!
