Love/Hate’s Tom Vaughan-Lawlor Confirms Villainous Role in Avengers: Infinity War!

Tom Vaughan-Lawlor confirms landing villainous role in Avengers: Infinity War!

During last month's D23 Expo, Marvel Studios offered a detailed look at Thanos and his children, aka the Black Order, all of whom will wreak havoc on Earth in 2018's Avengers: Infinity War. We’ve known for some time that Josh Brolin will play the Mad Titan and Terry Notary will play one of the members of his supervillain team, but we had no information about additional cast members.

We’re now relatively certain about who will play one of the other Black Order members. Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, (Nidge Delaney in the Irish crime drama series Love/Hate), recently confirmed to RTÉ Radio 1's Second Captains (via Dublin Live) that he’s appearing as a villain in Avengers: Infinity War:

I am. But it's like I'm one of those ones where you go into a sentence to say something about it and hope you have a job at the end of the sentence. You sign so many documents and waivers, and people ask you about it, and you have to give the generic and boring “I can't say too much about it.” But I am doing it, and it's really amazing, and an amazing thing to be part of.

The Irish actor was spotted on the set of the May 4, 2018 release, grappling with Benedict Cumberbatch, who portrays Doctor Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Vaughan-Lawlor was wearing a motion capture suit, so we couldn't be sure about his character’s identity. But we surmised that the character was a member of the Black Order. Rumor has it that Vaughan-Lawlor’s Avengers: Infinity War character is Ebony Maw. He may not be the greatest fighter, but he’s certainly a dangerous thinker and has mind-control powers. And he has quite a history with Doctor Strange in the comics, so the rumor makes sense.

In addition to the RTÉ series, Vaughan-Lawlor has also appeared in the Bryan Cranston starrer The Infiltrator, as well as the BBC shows Peaky Blinders and The Secret Agent.
