Earlier this month, we shared the announcement that Killjoys and Game of Thrones star Hannah John-Kamen had been cast in Ant-Man and the Wasp. At that time, her character’s identity wasn't revealed, although we got the impression that she would have a key role in the movie.
MCU Exchange recently reported that John-Kamen’s character in the Peyton Reed sequel was named Dawn. Whether she’s a villain or a “good guy” is yet to be disclosed, but a source described her as "charismatic, eccentric, unpredictable, and damaged”.
Since there's no character in Ant-Man comics named Dawn, we’re wondering if the role was specifically created for the movie. If that’s not the case, the website speculated that the 27-year-old British actress might be playing a Spider-Man character named Dawn Starr, who shares a surname with Hank Pym's iconic nemesis Elihas Starr, aka the original Egghead.
The characters weren’t related in the comics, but they could be presented as relatives of some sort in Ant-Man and the Wasp. A modification of that sort wouldn't be the first in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
According to the report, the July 6, 2018 release will introduce two additional female characters. The first is the original Wasp, Janet van Dyne. Her appearance in the upcoming sequel has been the subject of heavy speculation from the moment Scott Lang returned from the Quantum Realm in the original movie.
The second additional female character in Ant-Man and the Wasp is Victoria, and she’ll serve as a love interest for Michael Peña's Luis. She’s described as a bit of a "loose cannon", and she’ll contribute some comic relief. At the same time, she’s tough and smart, with a "dangerous edge”. Marvel is seeking a Latina actress for the role.
