With the recently released Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Gal Gadot introduced herself to us as the first Wonder Woman of live-action big screen. Even though the movie got pitilessly slammed by the critics, hardly anyone complained about Gal's new character. In fact, many said that she had the best part in the movie.
So, those who were depressed with Batman v Superman might still be looking forward to the Amazonian Warrior Princess' standalone flick that will arrive a bit sooner than it was supposed to. But what should we expect from Wonder Woman movie? While speaking to Digital Spy, Gal Gadot discusses that.
According to her, we have definitely caught "a glimpse of who she is" but we haven't been told "where she comes from". The Israeli actress adds:
In Wonder Woman, this would be the first time we ever tell the coming-of-age story of how Diana becomes Wonder Woman.
Gal points out that we have all seen the coming of age of superheroes like Batman, Spider-Man and Superman, but not anything like that of Diana Prince. About the nature of Wonder Woman movie, she says:
It’s very interesting. It has moments of humor, but it’s pretty dark.
PRETTY DARK! Despite so much criticism of Batman v Superman for being grim and dark, Gal Gadot isn't afraid to use that word while describing her upcoming standalone movie! Well, Jai Courtney also made it clear recently that they aren't doing Suicide Squad reshoots to make the movie funnier. So, maybe they are not showing any concern about the complaints over Batman v Superman.
Diana is "˜more naïve' in Wonder Woman movie!
Batman v Superman made it pretty clear that Gal Gadot's character is not as young as she looks. Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne saw a photo of her which dates back to the World War I era. And we already know that the events of Wonder Woman movie take place in that particular period.
According to Gal, a character was a different person from what we saw in the Zack Snyder flick. She states:
We go back 100 years to when she’s more naïve.
The 30-year-old actress further adds about her character in the upcoming Patty Jenkins flick:
She’s this young idealist. She’s pure. Very different to the experienced, super-confident, grown-up woman you’ve seen.
20 YEARS IN GOTHAM has made Batman a killer"¦ so, a century must have changed her to a far greater extent!
