While the Comic Con trailer for Wonder Woman got our hopes higher than ever (and, really, it was the best thing about this year’s Comic Con), there are people out there who have lost all faith in Warner Brothers' comic book movie shared universe. And, apparently, some of these people worked for the studio. As Comic Book reports, a former employee of the studio sent an open letter to WB CEO Kevin Tsujihara, criticizing the way the DC films have been handled.
Besides revealing that this employee was laid off in 2014, the letter addresses the movie already released in the DCEU, echoing the poor critical reception received. Furthermore, it also addresses some other Warner Brothers duds and under-performers, such as Edge of Tomorrow and Man from U.N.C.L.E.
So why did this letter appear just now? According to the poster, the letter was delayed from release in order to give Suicide Squad a fighting chance. But now that the reviews are in"¦
And that isn't all - according to the same former employee, Wonder Woman is also a hot mess. And that is because of WB CEO Kevin Tsujihara. Apparently, the poster isn't the only one saying this - although we haven't seen any other reports about this issue.
So how did Warner Brothers respond? Well, director Patty Jenkins replied on Twitter, saying that it’s all false. Furthermore, she also said that it’s a crass attempt to misinform the public. To what end? It isn't said.
However, the director also said that only time can now reveal that Wonder Woman isn't a mess.
So did this open letter (whether true or false) manage to misinform the audiences? Of course it did. Even more, the hardcore fans now have more reasons to believe that there is a conspiracy against the DCEU. Is this the case? We doubt it - the letter might as well have been written by any fan whose expectations haven't been met by Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad.
This being said, it should be mentioned that the actual shooting of Wonder Woman began in the fall of 2015, which was well after the alleged employee was fired. Furthermore, the letter also blames Zack Snyder for the mess the film will be. And this is utter nonsense, especially since he wrote the script and is now in charge of giving the DCEU its direction.
Why do people try to misinform the audiences? It is hard to say.
