Wonder Woman: Ares Revealed via Action Figure

The rumor that Wonder Woman will face Ares, the God of War, during her first DCEU solo outing has been floating around for some time. It was confirmed as of yesterday (again, we might add), after Warner Bros. screened the movie. However, Danny Huston won’t portray the villain, as we originally surmised based on his appearances in the trailers. Rather, it’s David Thewlis, who played Harry Potter's Professor Lupin.

We had known for some time that David Thewlis was involved in some capacity, but we thought he would play a scientist or some other minor character. Now it appears that he'll have a more important role.

Thanks to action figures introduced at the New York Toy Fair, we’ve learned that CGI will be necessary to enhance the character's size and his face/mask. And Ares will look terrifying (via CBM):

Of course, some might say that this reveal should have waited until the movie or a trailer was released. But maybe it’s all for the better.

We might be alone in this belief, but we see a small resemblance between this version of Ares and the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice version of Steppenwolf.

Which would be great, as far as we’re concerned.

In other news, the latest issue of Empire features Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. Check her out below (via CBM):

We’ve seen quite a bit of Wonder Woman-related news lately. Does this mean that a final trailer will soon be released? We hope so, but who knows? Maybe we’ll get a glimpse of Ares!
