The Batman solo reboot has been a hot topic since Ben Affleck announced that he would step down from the director's chair in order to focus on playing the character. Besides all the rumors concerning the actor, it appears that Warner Bros. has found a suitable replacement director, having announced that Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) has entered into negotiations with the studio.
Of course, the fans may not feel that Reeves is the best choice, especially since it was also rumored that George Miller (Mad Max: Fury Road) was also being considered. Reeves may not be the best choice when compared to other directors eyed by the studio. However, those directors have very busy schedules for the next couple of years (including Denis Villeneuve, who directed Sicario and Prisoners, and is attached to direct Dune in the coming years).
But now, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that another name has been added to the list of potential directors for The Batman. And this one is really big! According to the site, none other than Ridley Scott has made it onto the studio's shortlist.
This is surprising, especially since the Alien director recently said that he has no interest in directing a superhero movie. And he made quite an argument, saying that the Blade Runner universe could be the equivalent of a comic book movie shared universe featuring Batman and Superman. Scott added that any of the characters he has created or will create would be part of an actual story, rather than a non-story.
Pretty harsh words:
I'd have a f**king good story, as opposed to no story!
We can't say that we wouldn't be interested in seeing what a Ridley Scott-directed Batman flick looks like. What about you?
