We all know how the critics reacted to Suicide Squad - if they could travel through time like The Flash, they would have surely done something to stop it from happening! And even in various social media networks, you will find an awful lot of people talking about how much they hated it.
But it looks like there are many who loved the David Ayer venture but didn't feel the need to speak out about it. Maybe that is why Suicide Squad, after almost eight weeks of release, is still alive in theaters and is sailing past box office milestones, one after the other.
According to Box Office Mojo, the August 5 release is now one of the top 50 highest grossing movies ever in the domestic market! And the movie that it has passed to claim the 50th spot is none other than Marvel Studios' Iron Man!
Suicide Squad has already made $318,584,857 at the domestic box office, while Tony Stark's first standalone movie earned $318,412,101. The movie that is sitting in the 49th spot is Michael Bay's Transformers with $319,246,193. The other DC Extended Universe installment of 2016, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, is sitting in the 46th spot with $330,360,194.
Suicide Squad is performing impressively in terms of worldwide gross, as well. It currently sits in the 79th spot on the list of the top 100 highest grossing movies ever at the worldwide box office with its $731.6 million. A couple of weeks ago, it bypassed Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which earned $714.4 million.
We mustn't forget that the third DCEU installment hasn't been released in China, which is the second biggest market for Hollywood movies. So, the movie's figures at the worldwide box office could have been much higher.
