Christopher Nolan initially opposed Batman v Superman ending!

NOTE: The following article delves into Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice spoilers. READERS, YE BE WARNED!

Those who've watched Batman v Superman already know the ending of the movie very well - Doomsday kills Superman! Zack Snyder already explained why he killed Henry Cavill’s character, and what that means for Justice League Part One, in a recent interview.

In another recent interview with Collider, the director reveals that he had discussed his concept of killing Supe with Dark Knight Trilogy director Christopher Nolan, who is also the executive producer of Batman v Superman. And during the initial stage of their conversation, Nolan opposed the idea! However, Snyder did manage to convince him in the end. Here's what he said:

It was pretty early, and [Christopher] Nolan and I had a long conversation about it, a really great, sort of philosophical, conversation about it. He was really cool, because he played an amazing devil's advocate about why not to do it, and then in the end was like, “No you're right, it's better to do it.”

Zack Snyder repeats what he said the other day about why he thought killing Superman was important for the premise of Justice League Part One. He also explains that for Supe's character to evolve, there's  “a crucible that he has to go through” to truly embrace his humanity or find out the ultimate thing about being human - which is “mortality”.

Snyder's decision to kill the Man of Steel at the end of Batman v Superman wasn't opposed by Nolan alone. It shocked Warner Bros., too! But they, too, were eventually won over. The director states:

The studio was like, “What?” And I'm like, “Yeah, but, how about (if) I called the movie Dawn of Justice?”, and they're like “Okay, okay, I like what you're doing, I see what you're doing.”

Maybe we'll have to wait until November 17, 2017 to find out whether Zack Snyder's decision plays out well!
