This year marks the 75th anniversary of Wonder Woman in comics, and it is also the year in which we get to see Gal Gadot as the character's first ever live-action big screen incarnation. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was just the beginning for the Amazon Warrior Princess, as she is set to return next year with her standalone movie.
For a while now, we, the fans, have been speculating about which iconic elements of the female superhero will be featured in the Patty Jenkins venture. We have already seen her Lasso of Truth, her bulletproof bracelets and her indestructible shield in Batman v Superman. So, we are pretty sure we will get to see those in the Wonder Woman movie, as well.
Even though we don't know what other elements we will surely see, there's one we should not expect to see. It's Diana Prince's Invisible Jet! In a recent interview with People, DC Entertainment president Diane Nelson confirms its absence. She says:
There is no invisible jet. Not in this iteration.
Wonder Woman is actually just one month older than her Invisible Jet. While William Moulton Marston introduced the female superhero in the December 1941 issue of All Star Comics #8, he presented the vehicle in the January 1942 issue Sensation Comics #1. Since then, the Invisible Jet has always been closely associated with Diana Prince.
We saw this coming, didn't we? In Batman v Superman, there's a scene showing Gal Gadot's character in a Turkish Airlines plane. Why would she travel that way if her Invisible Jet exists in DC Extended Universe?
In the interview, Diane Nelson also talks about the tone of the Wonder Woman movie. From what she says, we can expect the June 2, 2017 release to be very different from the March 25, 2016 release! According to the DC Entertainment head honcho:
It will have its own tone and look - it’s beautiful. There is humor in it, there is real emotion in Diana’s journey in discovering the complexity of man.
