While a recent report suggested that Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, won’t appear in Ben Affleck's The Batman, we still hope that the character will make her way to the DC Extended Universe sometime in the future. But even though the character's arrival is yet to be confirmed, a couple of actresses have expressed interest in taking on the role. And now, we have one more!
Nina Dobrev, best known for her roles in The CW's The Vampire Dairies and big screen ventures like The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Let's Be Cops, is the latest to express her desire to portray Catwoman in the DCEU. During a recent interview with the Brazilian entertainment website CinePop (via Heroic Hollywood), the Bulgarian-Canadian actress was asked whether she would like to land a role in a comic book movie.
In response, Dobrev revealed that her first choice would be the role of Wonder Woman, currently played by Gal Gadot:
I think it would have been really fun to play Wonder Woman, but that movie has already been made [laughs]!
The interviewer then asked whether there might be a villain she would be eager to play. And that was when the 27-year-old actress mentioned Catwoman:
I don't know the comic books that well to be able to list them. Catwoman maybe? That would be fun. She is not really a"¦yeah, she kinda is a villain sometimes. Halle Barry did it a few years ago, but I think we should do it again and I should be it!
Recently, two other actresses, Anne Hathaway and Sienna Miller, both said they would love to play Catwoman. Hathaway actually already played the character in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises – so it's unlikely that the studio would even consider her if they were going to introduce the character in the DCEU.
