Back when we first found out that Batman will make an entrance in the DCEU, we still believed that the (then so called) Batman vs. Superman will be a Man of Steel sequel, with the Dark Knight having a minor role, just enough to make the fans aware of him in the DCEU. Then Zack Snyder made it clear that it isn't so and that it won’t be a sequel.

Later on, Henry Cavill announced that Superman is a pretty big (as in powerful) character, which means that it will take a while for him to have another solo movie. How much time? Well, at least until more powerful villains arrived on the stage.

Most recently, the rumor came out that the supposed Man of Steel sequel was indefinitely put on hold. Apparently, Warner Bros wants to focus on the Batman yet again - I don't have a problem with that (since Ben Affleck is a great actor), but I do have a problem with that (since this means that the studio has no idea of what to do with the shared universe).

It was just a rumor

Apparently, Man of Steel 2 being put on hold was just a rumor. After all, one of the most important superheroes of all times and a quintessential part of DC's Trinity, he should have at least a trilogy in the newly formed DCEU.

Of course, I say that mainly because this is the path chosen by Marvel - with solo films for the most important characters of its shared movie universe. But DC may choose another one - just like it did until now.

But, without digressing any further, it seems that Warner Bros is indeed planning for a Man of Steel sequel. And it will be one with Superman's most powerful foes. Who could they be? Check out on the next page!

George Miller - frontrunner for the director role

Apparently, Zack Snyder (who is now the Kevin Feige of the DCEU) is keen on having the Mad Max: Fury Road directing the Man of Steel sequel. This all started as a rumor - but a rumor which sounded the most interesting to Snyder.

But why do we mention George Miller? Because of one of the characters to be introduced in the Man of Steel sequel: Supergirl. As Fury Road shows, Miller is pretty good at building solid female characters. And from Furiosa to Kara is not that far a distance. How can Supergirl be introduced?

Well, Man of Steel did show us that there was an opened pod in the Kryptonian scout starship found in the Arctic. So it is this"¦

But what about a villain?

UPDATE: GEORGE MILLER REVEALED THAT HE INDEED TALKED WITH WARNER BROS ABOUT DIRECTING THE SEQUEL. HOWEVER, HE ALSO SAID THAT IT WON’T BE HIM AT THE HELM.

Brainiac - the hidden Brain

This was such a bad pun, if one at all - in any way, the rumor is that the second Man of Steel movie will have Brainiac as some hidden mastermind behind a plot to take over the remaining Kryptonian technology. What technology? Well, it appears that Brainiac has become aware that the Kryptonian codex is hidden with Superman, so he will do his best to take the superhero down.

Nonetheless, there is also a twist in here - apparently, Kara also has the codex within her. How does that work, when we know that Zod came to Earth because the only codex was with Kal? Apparently, the scribes are still working on finding a way out"¦

And it is pretty easy to see how. As said, Kara arrived on a scout ship, which was supposed to find new inhabitable planets. And, as we know, the Kryptonians weren't actually reproducing - is it so hard to assume that each scout ship (or, in any case) some of them had a codex? In this way, the found planet could have been populated"¦

So the Man of Steel sequel is set to have Brainiac as a hidden mastermind, in search for Superman and Supergirl, as the last exponents of the Kryptonian culture. But who is the muscle? Check out the next page!

Introducing Bizarro

As the rumor continues, Brainiac will create for his purposes a new being. And this will be the introduction of Bizarro in the DCEU. So the Man of Steel will have to fight the creation in order to reach the creator. Which sounds fine to us - though this also means that the next Man of Steel movie might just be a two-parter.

But how is Bizarro created? Apparently, Brainiac has a bit of information on the Kryptonian technology, which opens up the possibility for him to actually know just a bit (or quite a bit) about the codex. So, in a way, Bizarro might just be a stage in creation, with the final purpose of building a proper Superman. And this could lead to anything, including to Brainiac looking for the perfect body for himself.

Man of Steel 2 - proposed date

It is a long way until there - apparently, the powers that be have decided that Man of Steel deserves a sequel no sooner than 2019 and no later than 2020. As said, there is a long way.

So how many of the details presented in here can make it into the actual film? Well, most of them. Brainiac has been rumored to arrive ever since the first Man of Steel came out. Supergirl is almost certain in the DCEU, just because there was a pod opened in the scout starship. As far as Bizarro is concerned, he might just make it, to become an anti-hero in the end.

However, to be noted, scribes weren't even found for the Man of Steel sequel. And that is because an important villain in the Superman rogue gallery makes his appearance next year: Lex Luthor. The studio most likely wants to wait and see how the audiences react to Jesse Eisenberg's portrayal of the villain and start planning from there on.

But this is a good news nonetheless! George Miller directing, Brainiac as a hidden mastermind and Bizarro as the muscle - almost too good to be true.
